Apparently my new interview hair makes me look ‘elfin’. A word more usually used to describe Zoe Wannemaker. Amazing.
So I’m an elf with bleeding fingers and a hacking cough (latest in the long line of viruses to lay siege to my immune system). Tolkien would have had a field day!

I’m writing this on lunch break, so can’t go into details too much – not that I probably would anyway on this (rare) occasion….
At the moment I’m definitely going through a Rolling Stones/other rock/blues infused music phase, and this is probably the song I’m listening to/having stuck in my head most often. It seems particularly [...]

OUSU elections. They’re totally happening (despite what you may have heard…) If you’re a matriculated member of Oxford University head over to www.mi-vote.com and have your say in who will represent you in the next academic year. If you think OUSU’s great you’ll probably be voting anyway; if you hate it this is your chance [...]

It turns out that having a job seriously retards one’s ability to blog. Well, if the ‘one’ in question is me: CB seems to do all right for herself.
So yes, I have a job now – back at OUSU (please reserve any ‘Peter Mandelson’ comparisons – they’re not topical anymore). It’s basically a lot of [...]

God I love the Misfits (Glenn Danzig era – they’re just a little bit too kitsch after that, with the notable exception of ‘Saturday Night’). They were a horror punk band of the late seventies who dealt in three chords and lyrical contemplations of splatter horror themes (the title of this post is taken from [...]

Just had a wander over to Gawker and was sad to see this:
Yes, it’s true: Gawker’s sibling sites are laying off 19 people. This site is one of those that will be expanding. The internal memo is after the jump. Gabriel Snyder of W magazine will indeed be replacing me as managing editor and we [...]

I’m really enjoying Election ‘08; every day I wake up and the race for the White House has given me another gem.
Watch this.
I don’t know about anyone else, but this is how that particular interview looks to me:
Little Sarah Palin was playing ball with some friends last week, having a real fun time too. And [...]

For those that are interested, the change in the name of this blog is a masking thing. I’m hoping to prevent potential employers googling my name and coming up with pseudo-literary outpourings (incidentally, did you see that the other prominent person with my name on ‘the Google’ is nicknamed ‘Partyman’ and is a DJ on [...]

Just as Agatha is one of my laptops (the one I’m using now, as a matter of fact, and Oscar is another, so Eric is my skateboard (until just half an hour ago, my beloved skateboard. But more on that story in a moment.) I’m not sure where my propensity to name my possessions comes [...]

I’ve just come across satirical blog http://liberalsmustdie.com. Normally I’m all about the trolling and baiting right-wing nutjobs, but this just isn’t working for me.
For starters, it’s not actually that funny. At least not by the time you’ve read the exact same jokes in three consecutive posts. Rednecks are big fans of God, you say? Some [...]
